The surrounding dramatic landscape is a paradise for walkers and geologists, the Precambrian rock being some of the oldest in Britain. Volcanic activity provided the Lawley and Caradoc Stretton Hills with ice-flows creating the wonderful features of the Longmynd, whilst the nearby limestone escarpment of Wenlock Edge is abundant with fossils.

Church Stretton
Just a few miles away, the market town of Church Stretton offers a variety of small shops, café and pubs. From here it is possible to walk up onto the Long Mynd.
